MGB Rebuild Specification

At California Classics (Hull) Ltd, our rebuilt MGBs are built from the ground up using new or fully reconditioned components throughout. The aim is not simply to restore an old MGB, but to produce a car that combines the character and appearance of the classic MGB with the benefits of a comprehensive rebuild.

Our MGB rebuild specification covers the bodyshell, paintwork, engine, gearbox, axle, fuel system, brakes, suspension, steering, electrical system, interior and numerous smaller components that make a significant difference to how the finished car looks, feels and drives.

Below is our comprehensive MGB rebuild specification. The exact specification of an individual car can be discussed with us before the rebuild, including your choice of colour, trim and additional requirements.

Complete MGB Rebuild from the Ground Up

A CCHL MGB rebuild is much more extensive than simply repainting a classic car and replacing worn components. The car is rebuilt throughout, starting with a brand-new complete bodyshell and using new or fully rebuilt mechanical components as specified.

This approach allows many of the problems associated with ageing MGBs to be addressed during the rebuild rather than simply improving the appearance of an existing car.

MGB Bodywork & Exterior

The body is the foundation of the finished car. Our specification begins with a brand-new complete bodyshell, professionally prepared and refinished in the customer's chosen colour.

  • Brand New Complete Bodyshell
  • Waxoyled and Undersealed
  • Professionally Refinished in Your Choice of Colour
  • New Side Mouldings

Choose the Colour and Trim for Your Rebuilt MGB

No two CCHL rebuilds need to be identical. Colour, trim and additional items can be discussed when specifying your car, allowing you to create an MGB that suits your own preferences.

If you have particular requirements that are not shown in the standard specification above, speak to us about them when discussing your rebuild.

Rebuilt MGBs for Modern Classic Car Ownership

The objective of our rebuild programme is to retain the character that makes the MGB such an enduring British sports car while comprehensively renewing the vehicle.

Rather than buying an older MGB and gradually dealing with restoration and mechanical work, a CCHL rebuilt MGB provides an alternative for owners who want a car that has already undergone an extensive rebuild.

Historic Vehicle Benefits

Eligible historic vehicles can benefit from concessions associated with historic vehicle status. The precise eligibility of an individual vehicle depends on the applicable rules and the vehicle itself, so owners should check the current requirements relevant to their car.
